Law School ends, Life begins!

Law School ends, Life begins!

This past month has been one of many adventures!

Firstly, I graduated law school. Finally! If you follow me on Instagram or snapchat (@agirlnamedanu) , you would have come with me to pick up my cap and gown and seen the million pics I posted on graduation! Law school single handedly managed to kill my blogging life, my personal life, my eyesight, my ability to cook delicious dinners on a regular basis, my travel plans for three years and well, just about everything. This May, on a bright sunny day, I graduated cum laude from law school. Juris Doctor, ladies and gentlemen. And very happy to say, I’m glad to put those three years behind me.

Secondly, I got to travel to one of my favorite places ever- Napa & Sonoma! The husband and I took a fun little trip to San Francisco and Napa for a week and it was one of the most amazing trips ever. I’m sure law school ending had something to do with it.

Thirdly, I started my new job at Her Campus Magazine! I’ve always admired the magazine and the youthful, fun and inspiring team of ladies behind it and I am very glad that I got to start a new exciting gig with them!

Snapchatting of course! {Add me at agirlnamedanu}

But now that June is here and life has gotten back on track, significantly less busy than law school of course, I am excited for this new chapter of life as a person who works! I know that sounds funny but after 22 years of schooling, I have finally become a real person with a job! :D

I feel like this is going to be such a new phase of life, so different from everything else I have experienced. I will finally not know what I am upto every September and there won’t be final exams on my birthday every April! Come fall, I won’t have to “get back to school” and start scheduling life around classes ha!

I am eager and ready to do just about anything new now. Travel to a new country? Sign me up! Learn a new language? Oui, merci! Finally learn sailing? Yes, please!

Can’t wait to see where life’s new adventure takes me! And yes, I hope to blog a lot more often now :)

8 books every #girlboss must read

Image via Novelsandnailpolish.com

Ladies, ladies, ladies– I can safely say this was my favorite post to work on so far because a) I just love the term girlboss and b) who doesn’t love talking about their favorite books?

Aside from law school shenanigans, blogging and instagramming, my part time gigs, and being a wifey, I still make sure I spend an inordinate amount of my time working on my reading list for the year. I am a huge fan of the “aim to read a 100 books a year” theory. What’s cooler is that nowadays it’s totally on trend to be a reader. I mean, even Emma Watson has a book club- what’s not to love? Nothing.

books every #girlboss must read

I wanted to put together a list of my favorite books that every #girlboss must read because I seriously feel I elevated myself and became an all over better human after delving into these books. My favorite one of the lot is ” Notorious RBG: The Life & Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg”. You can’t blame me, I am a law student and she’s the baddest b***h thus far. For a law geek, a feminist and a witness of this generation, she is by far my biggest role model. I can write a whole blog post about that later.

Easter Dresses On Point

tea for two blog

Hi all, Easter weekend is here and for those looking for last minute easter dresses, I have just the perfect pretty pieces for you! Easter is all about florals, pastels and the homecoming of spring! And I know what you’re thinking — florals for spring? Groundbreaking! Right? But hey– if it ain’t broke…

This year, Nordstrom and Shopbop have a truly eclectic collection of spring dresses, I have picked out a few faves for you, I think these pieces are truly timeless and can be worn for a long time. They’d transition well from a college girl’s wardrobe to a young 25 + year old to even thirty something ladies! Have a look!

Happy #GoodFriday and a very Happy Easter everyone!

XO anu

Oscars Best Dressed 2016

The Academy Awards is one of my favorite nights of the year because it is such a sartorial delight for someone who loves fashion. The awards happen right after all the big fashion weeks, New York, London & Milan! And needless to say I spotted a whole bunch of looks from the NYFW runway on the Oscars Red Carpet! Heidi Klum chose an NYFW 2016 fall Marchesa look, although I seriously wish she chose this silky rose pink gown or this embellished gold gown. She totally has the bod for it and would’ve killed it!

Anyway, I thought I’d put together a fun list of my favorite best dressed ladies from last night, including one from the Vanity Fair Party. These looks are such an inspiration for all those black tie weddings that are coming up! :P

Rachel McAdams tops my list this year because I just can’t get enough of the sheer simplicity and elegance of this emerald green gown. And to top it off, she also had the best gown at the Vanity Fair after party. Here are all the looks.

Dear New York City, I’m in love with you

Dear All,

The past weekend was phenomenal for many different reasons. One- I managed to get to go to a few NYFW presentations. Second– I took my husband to my favorite restaurant of all times, Jean Georges for Valentine’s Day (or he took me ;) haha! And last but not the least, I met one of my favorite fashion bloggers, the adorable Kat Tanita of WithLovefromKat.com at Bergdorf Goodman Restaurantย ! I’ve been such a huge fan of her blog for the longest time and the fact that we met at our mothership Bergdorf’sย (yay!)ย was just so freaking exciting!!

The highlight of the trip was still going to Jean Georges with the husband for our Valentine’s Day date. He is quite the skeptic when it comes to food and is always critical of all my favorite places but he couldn’t find anything wrong with JG and that was a huge win in my opinion! I’m sure some of you caught the action on my Instagram but the real fun happens on my Snapchat and I would LOVE for you all to join me there. Add me on @AGirlnamedAnu and we can share even more adventures! For now, I’m sharing NYC fun right here with y’all!

I’m taking you through my trip starting from a fantastic view from our hotel room, we stayed at the Lotte New York Palace. St. Patrick’s is one of my favorite churches in the world so I just loved waking up to this view with a warm cup of coffee. Then I show you a little glimpse of my OOTDs, followed by our some fun pictures at BG restaurant. Of course later, I had to make a mandatory stop at Laduree. And finally we rounded up our four day trip with a fantastic Valentine’s Day meal at Jean Georges. What can I say NYC, I’m just totally in love with you!

XOXO anu

Spoil her this Valentine’s Day!

Today, I was having major Valentine’s Day nostalgia. Last year was our first valentine’s day together as man and wife. And boy did the husband do me proud! He has this unique way of making me feel super special and surprising me with the most thoughtful ย things! Last year I had been eyeing these gorg Chanel glasses, and he totally got them for me. I had no idea he even noticed every time I was at Chanel and I tried them on! It’s actually a funny little story– I’m friends with the Chanel ladies at Saks and they described to me later how he showed up to buy them. They said he walked in, went straight to the Chanel boutique, picked the sunnies I liked and said– these are the ones my wife wanted last time right? Awww right? And then boom he was out of there in 5 minutes flat! I can’t blame him, shopping isn’t his favorite thing in the world :) I think most men would agree!

When it comes to spoiling yourself or getting spoiled on Valentine’s Day, a little hint here and there always helps! Especially since our significant others are usually clueless as to what we really want. So here are some fun gift ideas for her. Slip them into his email or just go spoil yourself :)

Anniversary Trip to Miami + Harry Potter World

Anniversary Trip to Miami + Harry Potter World

A couple of weeks ago, the husband and I made a short and sweet trip to Miami for our one year anniversary. Now, something funny about me is that I am not a big fan of beach vacations. I know I know, so weird. I’ve always preferred taking ski trips or trips to wine valley where I am nicely wine-d up most of the time. But my husband just loooves Miami and so we decided to make a quick trip there for our one year anniversary. In retrospect, now that we are dealing with the aftermath of the Jonas Blizzard over here in Boston, I am very very glad we got away to warmer weather to start the year.

Balayage Hair Color & Hair Care Routine

A photo posted by A N U J A I N (@agirlnamedanu) on

G and I recently celebrated our one year anniversary. Suffice to say, every year around this time, I start aching for change. Freudian slip aside, I seriously crave a makeover at the beginning of the year. Possibly because it is the best way to start afresh and leave all the unfulfilled resolutions behind. This year, I decided that I wanted a new look but I wasn’t willing to super commit to anything. I mean, all kinds of thoughts came to mind: should I get a tattoo? Should I get a piercing? Should I get a Posh Spice bob? Of course G vetoed everything, ha!

Then I went to my stylist at G2O Spa & Salon on Newbury Street in Boston, and I just knew I was in good hands. A new cut and color is the best way possible to get an entirely new look without feeling like you committed too hard to something or went for a drastic change. And what’s more, the husband was happy!

Fortnight on Instagram.. and a little on the personal front!

Dear blogger world,

It is perhaps no secret that I have been off the grid for a while. I wish I could say I was busy like Adele creating a fantastic chart topping album, but alas! The trouble was that I was a very stressed out second year law student who had a pretty bad semester health wise. Friends and family know of course, that I have been struggling with some bouts of health issues this past 6 or 7 months. I haven’t had the heart to share it on my blog but finally decided–why not! After all, everyone in the blogosphere is so supportive and nice. They’re the best of humanity :)

Anyway- now that I am finally better, alive and kicking, I figured it’s time to get back on the track and start posting again.I have missed it so much! My husband G will tell you, he has been putting up with my crankiness and pangs of “I must start writing again” followed by sadness due to piling course load and medications. I have so much more respect for women who multi task now, it is perhaps the hardest thing in the world to carry on doing something on the side like maintaining a blog since it’s such a purely voluntary activity. I believe it takes a lot of determination. One of my new year’s resolutions is to do just that — not let my voluntary fun activities take a back seat compared to the things I “must” do like work and law school.

As I jump back into the bloggy world, I think I must start with a round up of the past four months through the eyes of ย my instagram account, which thankfully I have been maintaining! To those, who clicked back on my blog and checked up on me– thank you, from the bottom of my heart! Those “where are you?” and “when will you start writing again” emails MEANT THE WORLD! I love you guys!! :)

I took this picture on our last day in Miami, it was one of the most calming and serene walks I ever took on the beach. Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a big fan of beaches, I’d rather go skiing. But this day, on our first year anniversary, with my amazing darling husband, it is safe to say that I finally fell in love with the water! The air was so perfect, the water was so green, and the clouds were so dense. I just couldn’t help but imagine all the people who walked on the same sand, hand in hand. The look in their eyes, the love in their hearts and the many many resolutions they took and promises they made to each other. That is the beauty of vacation, even if you get away for just a couple of days it gives you energy to go on and brings out a new you! The new me is the one that loves the water and for that my husband is #thankful โค๏ธ๐ŸŒด๐Ÿพ๐ŸŒŠ #agirlnamedanu @wsouthbeach @whotels @g_isoninsta #barefoot #walkonthebeach #sealove #oceanlove #oceandiaries

Guess where are are?? #harrypotterworld #vacation #hogwarts โณโœจ๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŽ‰ G made a rule for us this anniversary trip, we aren’t going to be updating social media all the time on our cell phones hence I’ve tried pretty hard to stay away from #insta but I just couldn’t resist when I was at Harry Potter world!!!!! I just had to share my excitement! I’ve been a lifelong crazy fan, I read all the books the first day they came out, i cried my heart out when #Sirius and #Dumbledore died, I laughed with tears when Neville comes into his own in the last book finally killing you know who, I mean it’s been such a journey! Being at Harry Potter world is such a surreal dream come true๐Ÿ˜Š #dreamworld #dreamcometrue

Although it’s definitely a work in progress, I love looking back at all the photo shoots we did and all the laughs and giggles we had! This one is special cause I was wearing my favorite @aliceandolivia princess coat and it was like -10 degrees that day! ๐ŸŒฌโ„๏ธโ˜ƒโœจโ„๏ธโ˜ƒโœจโ„๏ธโœจ #aliceinwonderland #aliceandolivia #baincoat #princesscoat #coatdress #goldbuttons #celebrityski #pinetrees #finland #santasvillage #northpole #vail #bostonblogger #nycblogger #snowboots #uggaustralia #uggseason #uggs #longhairdontcare #longbrownhair #highheel #christmastime #holidaytime #bloggerstyle #styleblogger #fashionblogger #snowy #snowflake #aliceolivia #agirlnamedanu
